AGENCY NEWS - Nominated for 2 European Excellence Awards!

Charly PR, the Benelux agency for integrated corporate and consumer communications, is proud to announce its nomination for two prestigious European Excellence Awards. On 6 December in Berlin, the PR agency will not only compete for the title of 'Small Agency of the Year', but also for 'Best Data Driven & Automated Communications', with a Belgian thought leadership campaign for international payment company Wise. Charly PR was shortlisted from a selection of no less than 700 European agencies.

"This case really highlights our DNA – the ability to dive deep into an organisation's mission and messages and to resurface with storytelling that really makes an impact."

Karolien Hessels, Managing Director at Charly PR

In February of this year, Wise chose Charly PR to advise and support them in their first PR steps on the Belgian market. Since then, our agency has been helping the English international payment company, which chose Brussels as its EU headquarters, in their double mission: on the one hand, Wise wants to make consumers and businesses aware of the hidden fees they’re paying for cross-border payments. On the other hand, Wise wants to create more brand awareness for their multi-currency card (which makes such payments much more transparent, fairer and cheaper).

Thought leadership based on data & insights

Key part of Charly PR's strategy: to position Wise as a thought leader in its field, with a data-driven approach based on newsworthy figures. By combining the analysis of both internal Wise data and external survey information, Wise and Charly PR mapped out the impact of hidden costs that consumers and SMEs pay when engaging in international transactions. Charly PR translated the most relevant insights into strong press releases and opinion pieces, allowing them to continuously make the news, and 'hijack' existing news, for Wise. The various campaigns waves resulted in extensive coverage, including interviews, in leading Belgian business (Trends Geld & Beleggen, De Tijd, L'Echo, ...) and general media (De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad, Knack, VRT NWS, Qmusic, etc.).

Intersection of strategy and execution

‘I'm so proud of our Wise team, because this case really highlights our DNA – the ability to dive deep into an organisation's mission and messages and to resurface with storytelling that really makes an impact,’ says Karolien Hessels, Managing Director at Charly PR. ‘The fact that Wise is a very interesting client, with whom we achieve our common goals as partners, completely matches what we stand for as an agency. That’s also why the nomination in the category ‘Small Agency of the Year’ is such a cherry on the cake: we owe this nomination mainly to our no-nonsense approach, uniquely positioned as we are at the intersection of smart strategy and pragmatic execution, which has also driven us to success for Wise. We are of course very much looking forward to the ceremony on 6 December in Berlin.’
